Why this matters

Young people face growing mental health pressures, social challenges and economic uncertainty.

Yet the education system often focuses solely on academic performance.

Schools should prepare students for life, emotionally, socially and practically.

Our demands

Mandatory Mental Health Education

Mental health should be a core part of the curriculum, with regular lessons helping students understand emotional wellbeing, manage stress and anxiety, and know how to seek support.

Life Skills Education for Real-World Readiness

Schools should equip students with practical knowledge for adulthood, including financial literacy, employment skills, healthy relationships, communication and coping with real-life challenges.

Trained professionals delivering content

Mental health and wellbeing education should be delivered by trained professionals or staff with specialist training to ensure it is accurate, supportive and effective.

A consistent national curriculum

All students should receive the same standard of preparation, regardless of where they study. A national framework would ensure mental health and life skills education is delivered consistently across all schools.
